This is the Vashon Men's Amateur in conjunction with the Patriot's Day Labor Day Scholarship Fund Raiser.
I have Neal, Cliff, and Andy bird-dogging the sponsor list and now I need you, the weekend hacker to belly up to the bar.
I love the Gunny on those Geico commercials. I'm sure that he would easily add some prose to the effect of:
Okay, you lilly livered SOB's, I want you to stop your mamby-pamby procrastinating and start supporting the High School Golf Team. Now, down and give me 20."
The Golf Committee has instituted a fire sale for this year's event. Two days of Bestball golf, lunch on Friday, breakfast on Saturday, and an optional net score Horse Race on Friday afternoon for $125. Anyone from Vashon with a valid Ghin handicap can play. It cost $175 last year.
Priority will be given to Club Members, annual golf pass holders, punch card holders, and any Vashon resident in that order.
If you have a group of 4 friends, then sign-up as a group and you will play bestball together on both days.
If you have no friends, then leave the pairings to NP. It will only hurt a little.
We're going to have para-mutual betting on the 2 bestball events and the horse race.
We're going to have the beverage cart in the fully armed and loaded position.
We'll, also, have a green lock box in the Pro Shop to support the Labor-day weekend Patriot's day golf for our fallen service men and women. We, only, ask a buck a day for each day you play.
Cliff hopes to have some golf courses to auction off during Friday's lunch.
So, start calling your friends, clean your hybrids, find your lucky ball marker and sign-up in the Pro Shop.
